BIOGRAPHY

After completing a degree in Fine Art, I moved to Cumbria in 1990 to work as the photographer at the Wordsworth Museum (amongst other duties).  While in Grasmere I spent most of my spare time exploring the lakes and hills, always with a camera.  After a couple of years I bought a medium format camera and started to photograph the landscape as a professional.  I sent my work off to various publishers and in 1999 started publishing my Wordsworth’s Lake District calendar with J. Salmon Ltd.  Then in 2001, J. Salmon Ltd followed up the calendar with a book Wordsworth’s Lake District; the landscape and its writers (text by my partner Hazel Gatford).

The Wordsworth’s Lake District calendar is now in its 22nd year, and each year features twelve new Lake District photos.  The 2022 is now published; please click on the Calendar tab above for more details of how and where to buy.

Besides my landscape photography I have also worked for various organisations in Cumbria (Dove Cottage, Rydal Mount, Abbott Hall and Brantwood) photographing houses, interiors and gardens for guidebooks, postcards and greeting cards.
