Devil’s Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale. Although in Cumbria, Kirkby Lonsdale has always felt like the gateway to the Dales with its limestone crags on the river banks, and since the boundary changes of August 2016, Devil’s Bridge is now within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Howgill Fells from Kirk Bank. The Howgills are also in Cumbria, but are within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. These rolling hills offer miles of open walking, with wonderful views of both The Dales and the Lakeland Fells.
